I resisted the car gene as long as I could. My grandfather, dad and uncles always had a bunch of cars, but I kept it to 2 or 3 for a long while. think it may have gotten the better of me now. So here we have all our road legal cars. 05 Mini Cooper S, 2000 Mustang GT (soon to be race car), 02 Chevy Silverado, 18 Honda Odyssey, 03 Mitsubishi Evo VIII, 90 Morris Mini. Not shown is the 90 Escort race car and 68 Mustang up at my parents house. I may have a problem.
Just a quick audit and we have one micro car, one compact car, a pony car, a four door, a truck and a van. 3 I4s, 2 V6s and a V8. 32 cylinders in the pic. 2 red, 2 blue, silver and a white car. 2 British brand, 2 US brands and 2 Japanese brands.

Were Minis sold in the US in the 90s, or was that one imported more recently ?

That white Mini is unnecessary and redundant since you have the ‘05. I’d be happy to do you a favor and
take that old thing off your hands

Never mind, I just found your post about importing it. Cool stuff.

He’s an engineer. Redundancies are their stock in trade .

That’s quite a spread! I think my favorite would be the Evo.

If I lived in the country, and not in a high-density urban neighbourhood, this would likely be me. Just add a dirtbike and a 4x4 and a possible divorce... ha!

It tends to be mine. I love that car. The 90 Mini is great fun too.

I’d like to drive one of those old minis at some point. They look so fun.

I tell everyone who lives in the Seattle area to move to Atlanta because of what you can get property wise. An acre, good schools, 2700 square feet and 35 min from work for under $ 300k. This is our second house. First was in a typical neighborhood. Sold that and got this place. No HOA and lots of big oak trees. The trees are great until the leaves fall.

Well if we ever sold this house , we know we could basically plot down in other places and live like k ings... My BIL is considering moving to Alabama for this reason.

If you find yourself in Atlanta let me know. We could make that happen. Puts a big smile on the face.

I could see Alabama for retirement maybe, but don’t think I would want to live there. You’re dollar would go far though. I like Atlanta as you have access to all the good big city stuff, but can get out into the country pretty quick. Was up in north Georgia on Friday. It’s really pretty up there and there are great driving roads. Property is super cheap.

Thank you for the offer! I really appreciate that. I’m in Michigan so I’m not sure when it if that’ll happen but I appreciate it!

Bravo on diversity of nations. My fleet is all English or German-Pseudo English:
76 TR6 (Karman n rehash of a Michelo tti desig n, so even this is a little German)
85 XJ6 (Pininfarina)
13 MINI (BMW, but built in Oxford)
13 GTI

My wife is understanding of a lot of things, too, but has trouble understanding the fascination with cars. It’s like being fascinated by forks: it’s a tool that accomplishes a task. What’s the big deal? We don’t need 17 different but same forks to eat a salad.
At the same time, if I got started I’d probably never stop. Best to limit ourselves to the basics:
One family wagon that’s a little bit luxurious
One offroading SUV/Jeep/something that can assume truck-like duties as needed
One cheap run-about
A couple of motorbikes
A Bentley Continental GT for weekend trips
Oops, I’ve gone off the rails again! :D

The only difference between you and me is that, until recently, once I got a new car I’d sell the old one. Currently have 3 cars, but have had 11 different cars and only been at this for a little over 2 years. I think the 05' Mini is probably my favorite, love when people put the bigger pulleys on these and you get the excessive supercharger whine.

I didn’t get here intentionally, but I’m not in a hurry to get rid of the Evo and the Mini. Everything but the van is paid off, so might as well make use of it.
